From reverse engineering obsolete components to developing production-ready products, Campsite Precision helps manufacturers, motorsports teams, and aftermarket companies move from concept to manufacturable designs.
Custom Header, Y-Pipe & Catback Exhaust — Lexus GX470
Tags: Exhaust System · Header Design · Fabrication Partner
The Project: Brockett Built needed a complete custom exhaust system for a Lexus GX470 — headers, y-pipe, and catback — designed from scratch rather than adapted from an off-the-shelf kit.
Our Process: We started with a full 3D scan of the engine bay and exhaust manifolds to capture exact clearances and routing paths, then modeled the complete system in CAD from the header flanges all the way back to mate up to their proven cat-back exhaust system. Campsite Precision handled the full design; Brockett Built brought it to life with the premium fabrication.
The Result: A fully custom-fit exhaust system engineered around this specific vehicle, not forced onto it.

Ground-Up Header & Intake System — 1st Gen Ford Bronco (Coyote Swap)
Tags: Coyote Swap · Header & Intake Design · Production Batch
The Project: This 1st-generation Ford Bronco was built around a Gen 4 Coyote engine swap — meaning options for a bolt-on header or intake solution were slim. The project came to us through Brockett Built on behalf of Classic Ford Broncos (CFB), who needed both systems engineered from the ground up.
Our Process: Exhaust — Campsite Precision designed a full modular header system and crossover pipe merging to a custom dual X-pipe and cat-back run all the way to the tailpipe; Brockett Built handled the metal fabrication.
Intake — we fully 3D-scanned the engine bay and designed a custom intake system from the ground up: a laser-etched acrylic cover, an MJF 3D-printed intake tube, and custom mounting hardware. Every component was test-printed for fit before a supplier-made prototype was built. Campsite Precision designed and produced the intake system in-house while leveraging domestic partners for the MJF additive process.
The Result: A production-ready intake system with CFB planning to order in recurring batches — plus a fully custom exhaust system built for an engine swap with minimal existing aftermarket support.

Reverse-Engineered Fuse Box Cover — Kohr Motorsports
Tags: Reverse Engineering · Race Support · Rapid Turnaround
The Project: During a race, header heat melted the fuse box cover on a Kohr Motorsports car — a small part, but not one you can just order a replacement for.
Our Process: We took dimensions off the damaged original and reproduced it to match, built to hold up better against the heat that took out the first one.
The Result: Kohr Motorsports ordered three — one for the car and spares for the team with discussions for future motorsports projects ahead.

In-House Product Development — C4 Corvette Line
The two projects below are our own in-house designs for our C4 Corvette product line, built with the same process as the client work above.
Bolt-On Intake System — C4 Corvette (LT1/LT4/LT5)
Tags: Intake Design · Reverse Engineering · In-House Product Line
The Project: At over 30 years old, the C4 Corvette's LT1/LT4/LT5 platform has next to no aftermarket support left — the handful of intake options that used to exist have all been discontinued. We set out to design a modern, fully bolt-on intake for the platform.
Our Process: We 3D-scanned the C4 engine bay with and without the stock intake, plus the stock intake itself, to capture exact clearances and mounting points. Several prototype iterations were designed and tested around a BBK air filter already proven on the C5/C6 platform, refining the design into a true bolt-on solution — no cutting, no custom brackets. Ten color options for the anodized aluminum, laser-etched logo disc options round out the finished part.
The Result: A production intake now available on campsitecarbon.com, giving C4 owners a modern, bolt-on option where none has existed for years.

Rear Big Brake Kit — C4 Corvette
Tags: Brake System Design · Reverse Engineering · In-House Product Line
The Project: Big brake kits for the C4 platform typically mean complex installs and high costs. We set out to build a genuinely bolt-on big brake kit that keeps cost down without cutting corners on performance.
Our Process: Using the OEM rotor mount as a reference point, we designed a custom spacer/adapter system that lets Wilwood 4-piston hydraulic calipers and a larger 13-inch vented rotor bolt straight onto the factory hub — no custom brackets, no permanent modifications. A Wilwood mechanical parking brake completes the system. The next phase adapts the factory parking brake cables directly to the Wilwood mechanical caliper, cutting cost even further.
The Result: A big-brake upgrade for the C4 platform that installs like a bolt-on system, with further development already underway to make it simpler and less expensive still.
