MEET THE PERSON BEHIND THE DESIGNS
Hi, I’m Chris Camp — founder of Campsite Precision (and Campsite Carbon, our sister product line).
I’ve been an avid car guy since childhood, picked up AutoCAD in high school, and moved into 3D CAD the moment I got to college. I’ve been designing — for myself and professionally — since 2006, with a background in material handling and manufacturing design, and a degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology. Campsite Precision is where that engineering background meets a lifetime of being obsessed with cars.
Outside of client work, I’m usually knee-deep in my own builds. I’ve owned a long line of V8s and turbo cars — Camaros, a G8, an MK3 Supra, a turbo Eclipse GSX — and these days it’s a JK Jeep, a JL Jeep, and a C4 Corvette. Manual transmissions, clean OEM+ builds, and a soft spot for anything that ends up at a cruise-in or car show.
The name “Campsite” comes from my own garage — friends have called it that for years, part because it’s where everyone ends up building cool stuff together, part because it’s my last name. Born and raised in Morton, Illinois, and still here.
Campsite Precision exists because, for years, people and shops kept approaching me for custom design work outside my own product line — and I never had a good place to showcase it. This became that outlet: a dedicated space to bring that design work to the marketplace as its own service, separate from the Carbon product line.
One project I’m still proud of: Brockett Built brought me a 1st-gen Bronco with a Coyote swap that needed a header and exhaust system built entirely from scratch. We scanned the engine bay for six hours on a Sunday. Seven days later, I delivered a complete design package — files and renderings — for a precision TIG-weldable stainless exhaust system: modular sections, flex joints, v-band clamps throughout, custom hangers and brackets, muffler, resonator, tailpipe, the works. Brockett Built took that data and brought it to life. That turnaround, on a project that complex, is the kind of work I built this business to do.

Files that get you to a finished part — or a partner to build it
Every project ships with STEP files — open and manufacture from in any CAD software, at any shop. Your production never depends on us being available. Need extra hands on the build side? We can also line up and manage prototype or batch TIG welding, CNC machining, and sheet metal work through the same caliber of shops you already use — full white-glove production support if you want it.
Revisions vs. redesigns — decided upfront
Fit-and-function tweaks are part of the process. A significant redesign or new direction is treated as new scope, and we'll always flag that before any extra work starts.
